A ray of hope. A path toward living as independently as possible. A nurturing space where a child can feel safe and supported. A customized program for a specific child’s special needs. For children with developmental disabilities and their families, the Easter Seals Bay Area Kaleidoscope After-School Program is all of this—and more.

The Easter Seals Bay Area Kaleidoscope program is a home-away-from-home for its participants, offering a nurturing, structured environment that prepares them for independence through age-appropriate, activities and positive peer interaction. Kaleidoscope currently provides more than 37,000 hours of service to 50 children annually. 

In addition to affordable after-school care, Easter Seals Kaleidoscope gives caregivers a much-needed break from the 24-hour demands of caring for an individual with special-needs. Kaleidoscope gives parents time to tend to other obligations, spend with their children, or simply rest. The Easter Seals Bay Area Kaleidoscope program enables caregivers to recharge emotionally and physically so that they are able to care for their child with a disability.

Historically, youth with disabilities have been segregated in educational, recreational and other social settings. Schools and service providers are over-burdened, and they lack the resources to integrate classrooms and provide therapy and supplemental services to children with disabilities.  

Through the Easter Seals Bay Area Kaleidoscope after-school program, children with developmental disabilities can move higher and farther than ever before. All of life’s possibilities are within reach.
